On Tuesday, June 16, I did an impromptu solo run of Old Flowers Road. I took the southern Forest Service Road 152.C spur and set up for the day so I could work from my computer while enjoying some time in the mountains.
The weather was a little warm and breezy at times, but overall it was a very pleasant day. The trail was quiet, and the spur made a nice place to spend the day before heading back out via Pingree Park Road.
As I was leaving the spur, I was greeted by a couple in their truck who were not quite sure where they were or how to get back out. They followed me out toward Pingree Park Road, and along the way I helped spot them through the washed-out section identified as waypoint 12 in TrailsOffroad. That section did not appear to be any worse than when I last saw it in December.
As we exited the trail, I stopped to talk with the couple and with a landowner who was driving by. He was working on a nearby cabin, and we had a brief, friendly conversation before I aired up and headed home.
Overall, it was a quiet and enjoyable solo run on Old Flowers Road, with good weather, and a productive work day on my computer in the mountains.
