These pics are from our Greer Road ride on Sunday, November 16th, 2025. Laurie, Lee, and I met up with Michelle and Cave ā and their dog, Chloe ā at JJās, rolling out around 9 a.m. We were in our 4Runner, Cave was in his Jeep YJ, and Michelle was in her Jeep JL. We decided not to air down since Greer is a mild trail, maybe a 3 out of 10, though it still has a few bumpy stretches. Greer Road itself is a short forest road loop off County Road 44H in the Roosevelt National Forest, with a few mildly steep, rocky spots, so it makes for a relaxed half-day run close to Fort Collins.
We stopped at a couple of campsites along the way to walk around, talk, and have lunch. At the first stop, Lee placed a new geocache. This involved scouting for a good hiding spot in a rock outcrop for an ammo-can cache, then taking photos, recording coordinates, and writing up a description so he can submit it for review later.
The weather was breezy and in the 50s, which felt nice for mid-November in the Colorado mountains. We saw one other truck on the trail and noticed a campsite with a group set up well off the main road on a spur. At one point we heard some plinking that sounded like it was coming from their direction. We saw a group of turkeys on the drive in and one buck on the trail itself. Overall, it was a mellow Sunday drive with good company and an easy trail.
